What is chiropractic?
Your body is a self-healing organism that is in a constant break down and re-building state. The science of our body is broken down into categorical systems that orchestrate living. Of these systems, the nervous system is the conductor of how each and every cell, tissue, and organ go about functioning. Amazingly, it is the first system that develops in utero and communicates with cells on how and when to create and build! This is the system that a chiropractor works with via chiropractic adjustments, to aid in the restoration of body function.
Chiropractic is not the treatment or cure to any disease or ailment. It utilizes the body’s ability to heal and self-regulate itself to address symptoms. Whenever our body is out of its happy balanced state (homeostasis), it lets you know by expressing symptoms (your body’s check engine light), and decreases in function. Looking toward the housing unit of our central nervous system (brain & spinal cord), our spine, chiropractors asses how the control center is functioning via the motion between each vertebrae. The lack of motion in a spinal joint leads to pressure and irritation on the spinal nerve. This pressure interrupts the communication between the brain and the intended location of control (subluxation). A chiropractic adjustment is used to correct and restore proper motion back into the joint which then allows the restoration of body function.
